Dublin, OH — Friskie Adam, Ohio’s sensational 3-year-old pacing colt, suffered a season-ending injury while experiencing his first defeat of the year in the final Sires Stakes leg this past Saturday (Sept. 6) at Scioto Downs.

Undefeated in his first eight starts — all stakes — the Feelin Friskie-Lottery Fever colt held on to finish third Saturday, despite a fracture of his left hind ankle.

Friskie Adam won his first eight starts this year and has earned $181,921 in his career.

Friskie Adam was transported by trainer Dan Ater to Rood and Riddle in Lexington, Ky., where definitive diagnostic studies were performed, and the colt is undergoing surgical repair of his fracture today.

Driven in all his starts this year by Kyle Ater, Friskie Adam has seasonal earnings of $122,700, with all of it coming in Ohio colt stakes. He was the betting favorite in all nine starts and undoubtedly would have been favored in the Breeders’ Championship at Delaware and the Sires Stakes final Sept. 27 at Scioto.

Bred and raised by Midland Acres, Friskie Adam was purchased as a yearling by Dr. Jerry Maloon of Dublin. He was trained and driven throughout his 2-year-old season by Chip Noble.

As a 2-year-old, he finished on the board in nine of 11 starts, with four wins, four seconds and one third, earnings of $59,221 and a record of 1:55.1f.

Earlier this year, he lowered his record to 1:52.4f at Scioto Downs.
