Winter weather has forced some tracks to cancel their Tuesday (Jan. 7) live racing cards. Below are the notices that have been sent to the USTA Newsroom.

Monticello cancels racing on Tuesday

Monticello, NY — Due to the high winds and frigid temperatures, Monticello Raceway has cancelled its Tuesday (Jan. 7) live racing program.

Racing is scheduled to resume on Wednesday (Jan. 8). First post will be at 12:25 p.m.

Western Fair cancels racing on Tuesday

London, ON — The Raceway at Western Fair District has cancelled Tuesday’s (Jan. 7) live program due to extreme cold temperatures in the London area.

The Raceway will remain open for simulcasting.

Live racing will resume on Friday night with a first post of 7:05 p.m.

Yonkers cancels Tuesday live racing, all simulcasting

Yonkers, NY — Yonkers Raceway has scrapped its live racing program and all simulcasting for Tuesday (Jan. 7) due to the bone-chilling temperatures in the greater New York area.

Live racing is scheduled to resume Thursday (Jan. 9) with the usual 7:10 p.m. first post. Afternoon simulcasting is scheduled to resume Wednesday (Jan. 8).

Horsemen are advised that the draw for Saturday’s (Jan. 11) card shall be conducted as usual, with the entry box closing at 4 p.m. For more information, please contact the race office at 914.457.2627.

Northfield cancels racing on Tuesday

Northfield, OH — Northfield Park is announcing the cancellation of the Tuesday (Jan. 7) race program. Cold temperatures and negative degree wind chill readings are expected in northeast Ohio.

Simulcasting continues as scheduled from 2:05 p.m. to approximately 8 p.m.

Live racing will resume Wednesday (Jan. 8) with a 6 p.m. post time.

Meadowlands and Winners OTW closing at 6 p.m. on Tuesday

East Rutherford, NJ — Due to the extreme cold that has caused many tracks to cancel racing, Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment and Winners Bayonne OTW will close for simulcasting at 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

Meadowlands & Winners will resume normal simulcasting operations Wednesday at 11 a.m.
