St. Marys, OH — Trent Bates, 46, died of an apparent heart attack on Aug. 2, 2013, at the Mercer Co. (Ohio) Fairgrounds in Celina after doing the evening feeding of his horses.

He was the son of the late Don Bates (himself a horseman/trainer/driver) and Nancy Bates. He had a brother, Ty, and cousin, Brandon, who are also in the harness racing business.

He was a friend to all who met him and will be missed by many, many people.

Viewing hours are to be Tuesday (Aug. 6) from 2-8 p.m. at the Cisco Funeral Home, St. Rt. 703 E. in Celina. The funeral is set for Wednesday (Aug. 7) at 10:30 a.m., also at the Cisco Funeral Home.
