Tri-features, Pick-5 carryover lead Yonkers’ weekend

by Frank Drucker, Yonkers Raceway Publicity Director

Yonkers, NY — Three $32,000 Opens/Opens Handicaps and a few dollars in the unclaimed luggage bin are included in Yonkers Raceway’s weekend.

Friday night’s weekly ladies pacing feature (sixth race) shows up as a blind-draw event, with Regil Elektra (Jason Bartlett) winning the draw. The 6-year-old daughter of Mach Three was compromised by a poor getaway a week ago, a fact that ought not to be an issue from this venue. Regil Elektra is 2-for-4 to start her season.

Inittowinafortune (Jordan Stratton, post seven) was a solid second from this same starting locale a week ago.

Friday’s Pick-5 begins with a carryover of $2,163.39 (50-cent base wager, races seven through 11).

Saturday night’s Open Handicap Trot (sixth race) finds last week’s first three finishers back at it, with Somebody AS (Stratton, post seven), Crazshana (Bartlett, post four) and Red Hot Herbie (Brian Sears, post five). Somebody AS tripped out from the pocket, while Crazshana was very sharp racing with fresh Lasix.

Not Afraid (Dan Dube, post six) tried an eight-hole leave a week ago, but too many others had the same game plan.

The week’s marquee pace (seventh race) is led by last week’s winner, Phil Your Boots (Tyler Buter, post seven) and runner-up Melmerby Beach (Bartlett, post six). Polak A (Sears, post four) earns a seat at the adult table after a pair of solid conditioned victories.

Post time for both programs is 7:10 p.m.
