from Running Aces

Columbus, MN — Three different drivers each scored triples on Tuesday night (June 16) at Running Aces, accounting for the victories in all nine races on the card. Luke Plano, Gerry Longo and Rick Magee each visited the winner’s circle three times.

Plano got bookend wins in the first and the final races with Becky B Skipalong (1:58.4) and Rikybrnthegaragdwn (1:56). In between, Plano guided Mattox’s Spencer (1:54.3) to give trainer Patricia Minella her first local victory.

Longo won with Lo Duckin The Heat (2:02.2) in a maiden trot and Shadow’s Image (1:57.4) and Chewy Baca (1:53.1) from his own stable.

Magee scored with his own Wisconsin Believer (1:58) and trainer Cliff Owens’ Whata Smoothie (1:58.3) in divisions of a mini-series for non-winners of a pari-mutuel race and guided Margin Call from his stable to a 2:00.4 triumph in a non-winners of two races trot.

With his three victories, Longo has moved into a tie for the top spot in the Running Aces dash standings with Nick Roland. Each has notched seven wins over the initial six nights of 2015 racing. Plano is now tied for third with Steve Wiseman, each with six seasonal wins. Magee, a former local dash champion, moved into eighth place with his Tuesday triple.
