Chester, PA — There were three divisions of Pennsylvania Sire Stakes races for 2-year-old filly trotters on Thursday (Aug. 11) at Harrah’s Philadelphia, each going for a purse of just over $63,000.
In the first division, it was the Charlie Norris trained and driven Treviso taking the lion’s share. The daughter of Muscle Massive-Valbonela was able to establish pocket position behind race favorite Fine Tuned Lady (Corey Callahan). She vacated the garden spot to gun down the leader, winning by a neck in a time of 1:55.3. Yooper (Matt Kakaley) settled for third.
It was the third career win for Treviso, who is owned by Klis Brothers Stable and Carrie Norris. She paid $18.60.
In division two, it was Bob Stewart trainee Can’t I (John Campbell) remaining undefeated. The daughter of Cantab Hall-Buck I St Pat brushed to the top and managed to maintain her lead the rest of the way, stopping the clock in 1:57.2. Broadway Idole (David Miller) was second, while Crann Tara (Corey Callahan) rallied for third.
Can’t I is owned by her breeders, the conglomerate of Howard Taylor, Ed Gold, Abraham Basen, and R R Fuller. She returned $5.40 to win.
In the third division, it was Temple Ruins (Yannick Gingras) lasting on the lead. The daughter of Donato Hanover-Temple Of Heaven was able to rate on the lead, then hold off the pocket-sitting favorite Dangle Then Deke in the stretch, stopping the timer in 1:56.3. It was her first career win. Future Secured (Ake Svanstedt) finished third.
Temple Ruins is owned by Burke Racing, Weaver Bruscemi, Michelle Yanek and Paul Treiber and is trained by Ron Burke. She paid $9.80.
