Trio of Pennsylvania Sire Stakes contested at Harrah’s Philadelphia

Chester, PA — Three divisions of Pennsylvania Sire Stakes for 3-year-old filly pacers were contested at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon (June 12), each going for a purse of approximately $75,000.

In the first division, it was Luxuriant Hanover pulling off the mild upset. The daughter of Well Said drafted second over and was able to out sprint the heavy favorite Weeper home, pacing the last quarter in :27, with the final time being 1:52.1. Weeper held on for second, while Palm Beach rallied for show.

It was Luxuriant Hanover’s second career win for owners James Simpson and the Pinske Stables. She is trained by Julie Miller and was driven by David Miller.

In the second division, it was Casie Coleman Stables, Lawrence Dumain, and Carlo Lattinelli’s Someislandsomwhere rallying for the win. The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere paced the back half in :54.2 to out close a game Allstar Rating, who settled for second. Gallie Bythe Beach finished third. Someislandsomwhere went on to pace the mile in a lifetime best 1:51.4.

She is trained by Casie Coleman and was also driven by David Miller, who had four wins on the card.

In the third division, Bradley Grant’s Sandbetweenurtoes continued her winning ways. The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere quarter-moved to the front and never looked back. She paced the mile in 1:51.2 over the sloppy going to remain undefeated in 2014. She is trained by Larry Remmen and was driven by Brett Miller.

Also Encouraging battled gamely, overcoming a first over trip for second, while early pace setter Southwind Silence finished third.
