Pine Bush, NY — Fancy Speed (1:54.3, $206,755, 126-18-18-18), a 16-year-old trotting gelding who raced at the upper level of overnight events at both The Meadowlands and Freehold Raceway, was euthanized on March 27 because of complications of chronic foot problems.
Fancy Speed was cared for by Equine Rescue Resource (ERR) of Pine Bush, New York after being purchased by them in 2010 for $200 at the Unadilla (NY) grade horse sale. His nickname was “Wilbur” because he was covered in burrs at the time of his purchase.
