Unlocked finds the key to Meadows $22,500 pace

by Evan Pattak, for the Meadows

Washington, PA — Unlocked found the key to victory Monday (Nov. 30) at The Meadows — a clean journey on the front with plenty of pop late. That was his formula for success in the $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Pace.

Mike Wilder hustled Unlocked to the lead from post five in :27.2. When no credible outside challenge developed, the 4-year-old son of Duneside Perch-Miss Major Power was able to relax, then blazed home in :27.2, matching his opening panel. He scored in 1:51, three-quarters of a length better than Bestinthebusiness in the Lightning Lane, with the pocket-sitting My Hero Ron third.

Norm Parker trains Unlocked, who extended his career bankroll to $350,844, for Megan Rogers Racing Stables.

Aaron Merriman, Dave Palone and Wilder each collected three wins on the 15-race card.
