Up And Ready tops Thursday’s third session of the Lexington Selected Sale

Lexington, KY — Up And Ready, a filly trotter by Kadabra out of Glide By, topped Thursday’s (Oct. 3) third session of the Lexington Selected Sale with a price of $300,000. Her family includes Dan Patch Award-winner Maven and stakes-winners Lanson and Glide About. Her half-brother Nows The Moment won a New York Excelsior Series championship last year.

Up And Ready was purchased by Jim Glass for a group of owners including Marvin Katz and Al Libfeld. The filly was consigned by Preferred Equine and bred by Harry Rutherford and Diane Ingham.

Magic Beauty, another filly by Kadabra, was the second-highest sale of the night, going for $180,000 to David McDuffee, as agent. She is out of stakes-winner Magic Marker and a full sister to Magic Bob, a 2-year-old Ontario Grassroots Series winner. Second dam Susie’s Magic was a Breeders Crown champion. Magic Beauty was consigned by Peninsula Farm and bred by Mel Hartman and Herb Liverman.

The top selling pacer in the third session was Captain Terror, a colt by Captaintreacherous out of Pink Terror, purchased for $150,000 by Lindy Farms. His family includes O’Brien Award-winner Beyond Delight and multiple Dan Patch Award-winner Worldly Beauty. The colt was consigned by Hunterton Sales Agency and bred by Visionary Breeders and Riverview Breeding.

A total of 173 horses sold Thursday, grossing $7.65 million and averaging $44,254. The average was a 6.1 percent increase from last year’s third night, which saw 162 yearlings average $41,704.

Through three days, this year’s five-day sale grossed $38.93 million for 465 horses and averaged $83,720. The gross is a 16.88-percent increase compared to last year (for 427 horses) and the average is a 7.33-percent increase from last year’s $78,002.

A total of 116 horses have sold for at least $100,000 this year. Last year through three sessions the total was 119.

Muscle Hill and Father Patrick led the trotting sires in gross, with 52 Muscle Hill yearlings totaling $6.89 million ($132,538 average) and 43 Father Patrick yearlings totaling $5.17 million ($120,256). The two also led in average among trotting sires with more than one horse sold.

Somebeachsomewhere and first-crop sire Always B Miki topped the pacing sires in gross, with 38 Somebeachsomewhere yearlings totaling $4.28 million ($112,763 average) and 55 Always B Miki yearlings totaling $3.98 million ($72,473). Somebeachsomewhere led in average followed by Captaintreacherous at $82,756 for 41 yearlings sold.
