USTA, Harness Racing Museum to host Equine Job Fair

by Ellen Harvey, Harness Racing Communications

Freehold, NJ — Looking for employees at your equine-related business? Seeking employment in the horse world? In a joint project to put Standardbred farms and stables together with qualified staff, the USTA and the Harness Racing Museum will hold an equine job fair on Wednesday, April 29, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Museum, 240 Main Street, Goshen, New York.

The job fair is open at no cost to the first 20 potential employers who are either USTA or Museum members and request a spot at the fair. Each employer will be given a six foot table and the opportunity to collect resumes and speak with potential employees. Employers need not have immediate personnel needs to participate. They can have any kind of employment opportunity, current or future, seasonal, part time or permanent.

“The USTA recognizes this is a very labor-intensive industry, horses need skilled care every day of the year,” says USTA Executive Vice President Mike Tanner. “We’re pleased to join forces with the Museum to put together those who need help at their farms and stables with those who want to work in the horse industry.”

“The Harness Racing Museum encourages interest in the sport and supports its local constituents,” says Ebby Gerry, museum president. “Our relationship with the community has always been close; this positive plan to match those looking for employment with Standardbred farms who are, in many cases, desperately in need of workers, will be rewarding for all concerned.”

Job seekers are asked to bring at least 25 copies of their resume and to be prepared to meet potential employers. Those who do not have a prepared resume will be offered assistance in completing a standard application and provided with copies.
