USTA offers Yearling Prep DVD

by Ellen Harvey, Harness Racing Communications

Freehold, NJ — Weanlings have just become yearlings, it’s cold, snowy and sales time seems far away. But the foundation laid now by breeders, in feeding, farrier care and exercise will all be factors in the sales price of yearlings this fall.

Small breeders can make good use of winter nights by ordering the USTA’s DVD on yearling prep, geared toward a small operator. A few extra bids on a well prepared yearling can mean the difference between a profit and loss for the breeder sending only a few horses to sale.

The video was taped at Winterwood Farm in Ohio with proprietor Albert Adams, a master at preparing a young horse for sale and a racing career.

The $10 video can be ordered here.
