Campbellville, ON — Warrawee Needy, with driver Jody Jamieson, has proved to be the top Ontario sired 2-year-old pacing colt so far this season. On Monday night (July 4), the duo stopped the clock in 1:52.2 in the C$130,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Final at Mohawk. The victory was one of four wins for Jamieson on the night.

Warrawee Needy was a 1:52.2 winner in the OSS Gold Final.

The son of E Dee’s Cam was quickest off the gate from post four as they quickly took command to the lead, past the opening panel in :27. Jake Sully (Aaron Byron) was well positioned in the pocket with Caddy Jeff (Rick Zeron) sitting third. The field would remain the same reaching the midway point in :57.1.

Going into the final turn, Orse Power (Scott Zeron) angled to the outside, but failed to advance past the three-quarters in 1:24.3. Jake Sully was just one length behind Warrawee Needy at the top of the stretch with Caddy Jeff eight lengths back in third.

Down the stretch, Warrawee Needy and Jakes Sully pulled away from their rivals, but Jake Sully could not match strides with the tempo-setter as Warrawee Needy coasted to a three length victory. Jake Sully remained second with Caddy Jeff finishing third.

Warrawee Needy paid $2.10 as the bettor’s choice.

“He did it quite easily tonight,” Jamieson said following the win. “When Aaron (Byron, driving Jake Sully) popped off of my back, my horse just ducked his head and dug in. He’s just a very impressive individual.”

The Moffat resident explains the sophomore will now do some travelling.

“It’s Rideau (Carleton) next week or the week after,” said Jamieson. “It will give him a chance to see a different track and get a little more experience under his belt.”

“I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason,” Jamieson noted about Warrawee Needy not being eligible to the C$1 million Metro. “There was a reason why he wasn’t paid into it because he wasn’t training down great, so they didn’t make the first payment.
He’s an obscured-bred horse being an E Dee’s Cam even though he has a nice brother in Big Bay Point. It might make him that much stronger down the road and as a 3-year-old.”

Trained and co-owned by Carl Jamieson along with Thomas Kyron, Dr. Michael Wilson and Floyd Marshall, Warrawee Needy is now a perfect three-for-three in his career. The $22,000 yearling purchase now has freshman earnings of $95,820.
