WatchandWager offers five percent takeout on Cal Expo harness racing

San Francisco, CA — WatchandWager, LLC, set a new pari-mutuel industry standard Thursday when it announced that it is offering a five percent takeout to WatchandWager customers who wager on Cal Expo harness racing.

“Takeout” is the portion of the total pari-mutuel pool that is withheld by racetracks for taxes, purses, and operating expenses. Racing fans struggle with takeout because it reduces the amount of available money returned to bettors on successful bets. Traditionally, takeout can be anywhere from 15 percent to almost 30 percent of a total pari-mutuel pool.

As the operators of Cal Expo harness racing in Sacramento, Calif., WatchandWager is reducing the takeout for those who wager at least $40 on the track through the WatchandWager website.

“As the licensed operator of harness racing at Cal Expo, WatchandWager is pleased to support this promotion through its primary website,” stated Ed Comins, President of WatchandWager, LLC. “We are pleased with the start of our new racing season at Cal Expo, especially our new initiative of Sunday racing. The reduced takeout promotion will be particularly appealing to our online and mobile users who cannot attend the track.”

The five percent takeout is available to U.S. customers of WatchandWager. Residents outside of California will receive the five percent takeout across all pari-mutuel pools at Cal Expo, while California residents are eligible for the five percent takeout on the Pick-4, Pick-5, and Pick-6 pools. (Residents of Colorado, Maryland and Pennsylvania are not eligible for this offer).

The five percent takeout sets WatchandWager and Cal Expo harness racing as the new industry leader in providing generous returns to their customers. No other track (or wagering service) has surpassed WatchandWager’s five percent takeout offer.
