Freehold, NJ — We Will See, who paced the fastest mile in the history of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on September 24, leads a field of 10 in Saturday’s (October 1) $183,000 Allerage Farms open pace at the Red Mile in Lexington.

The 4-year-old son of Western Hanover-Aberdakara has won 10 of 20 races this year, including the $848,640 Canadian Pacing Derby and $500,000 Ben Franklin Pace, and earned $1.08 million for owners Shannon DePinto, Earl Smith and Jerry Silva.

Trained by Sam DePinto, We Will See is the No. 3-ranked horse in the current Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown Top 10. He won the Open at Pocono Downs last weekend by three-quarters of a length over Dial Or Nodial in 1:48. The time was the fastest in Pocono Downs history, breaking the mark of 1:48.2 shared by three horses.

The time matched the all-age world record for pacers on a five-eighths-mile oval, shared by Artistic Fella and Mister Big.

We Will See will look to add to his $1.08 million bankroll this year when he starts from the rail in the Allerage Farms open pace.

We Will See went into the race following a three-week layoff after his Canadian Pacing Derby win.

“I was surprised,” Sam DePinto said. “I knew he would be OK, but I didn’t know he’d be that good. He was really good. I don’t think anybody thought we’d go that much.”

DePinto flew regular driver Ron Pierce from Lexington to Pocono Downs for the race. In the winner’s circle after the record-breaking speed performance, Shannon DePinto asked Pierce how he enjoyed his flight. Pierce said, “The flight was good, but this one was better.”

Pierce and We Will See will start the Allerage from post one.

“I think that spot (post one) will be perfect for him,” Sam DePinto said. “Ronnie is a master; I think he’s going to work out a great trip with him. He’s doing a heck of a job with him. It’s like a hand in glove, it’s a great fit.”

DePinto jogged We Will See on Wednesday at the Red Mile.

“He was full of himself, feeling great,” DePinto said. “I was real happy with him. He’s super.”
