Toronto, ON — After finishing fourth and failing to advance to the C$60,000 Autumn Stakes final two starts ago, trainer/owner/breeder Dave Drew was pleased to see his star pacer, Web Cam, return to the winner’s circle last week.

Web Cam has won four times in his career with earnings of $51,644.

The now 4-year-old son of Astreos scored a wire-to-wire victory in 1:53.1 for driver Randy Waples on Dec. 27. He will headline his class in a pair of C$20,000 Snowshoe Stakes eliminations taking place Friday night (Jan. 7) at Woodbine Racetrack.

After going 4-3-1 from 15 starts last year with earnings of $50,960, Drew has been pleased his Web Cam’s performance up to this point.

“I have been very pleased with him,” he commented. “Early in his career he needed to learn how to race but recently I turned the lines over to Randy Waples and he has done a tremendous job with him.

“He trained lightly this week and seems to be on his game. He’s not an overly big horse but just a nice size. He’s a beautiful horse to look at just like his mother, Ruby Cam.”

Drew, a resident of St. Catherines, Ontario, also believes that his pupil will get better with age.

“I think he will progress nicely as the season goes on. I believe he will get better with age and I think quite highly of him. You never know how good they are going to be, but so far he is on the right track to be a very useful racehorse.”

Drew also noted that Web Cam is also eligible to the Cam Fella Stakes beginning on March 5.

He will go to post in Friday night’s 10th race with the top five finishers advancing to next week’s C$60,000 final.
