Week’s second DSBF final set for Tuesday night

Dover, DE — Mac’s Journey, winner of two Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund 3-year-old filly pace preliminaries, leads eight into the $100,000 final on the Tuesday (April 10) card at Dover Downs. First post is 4:30 p.m.

Riding an overall three-race win streak, Mac’s Journey (Badlands Hanover-Mac’s Only Iris), with Sean Bier in the bike, takes on Mike Gannon’s Powerful Honey (Powerful Toy-Honeycakes), leaving from the rail with Roger Plante. Powerful Honey has a win and a second in DSBF prelims.

Jim and trainer Joe Skowyra’s Two Cam (Cams Fortune-Kam’s Legacy) was a winner last week with Brad Hanners in the bike, edging Norma Messick and trainer Tim Torbert’s Roddy’s Girl (Roddy’s Bags Again-Terro Franco N) with Vince Copeland. Eli Scott’s Heres My Ticket (Three Olives-Real Elegance) posted the fastest win of the prelims when Ross Wolfenden drove a 1:52.3 wire-to-wire victory, currently the fastest time this season for a sophomore filly in North America.

The rest of the contenders include Joyanna (Badlands Hanover-She’s All Business), handled by Ben Stafford, Jr. for Dorothy Hock, Katherine Ricci and Ben Stafford, who has a win and a second in her prelims. Garnet O’Marrow’s homebred Seboomook Hooter (Badlands Hanover-Stonebridge Bliss) and Allan Davis has finished second and third in DSBF action. Ted Press’ Karen’s Assets (Cams Fortune- D R J), piloted by Hall of Famer Ron Pierce, is a maiden but has been second seven times with two thirds in 13 career races.

There is also a $20,000 DSBF consolation for 3-year-olds that did not make the final.

The last week of Dover Downs’ 43rd season continues through Thursday, featuring $100,000 DSBF finals each day with racing beginning at 4:30 p.m.
