What Should I Goo sets stakes and track record at the Ocean

Berlin, MD — The Russell Foster–Richard Hans connection swept both splits of the Maryland Standardbred Fund (foaled) stakes for freshman trotting fillies at Ocean Downs on Wednesday (Aug. 11), with one trainee setting a stakes and track record.

In the first $11,375 split, Gooness Gracious (Googoo Gaagaa) got the perfect pocket trip, charging down the stretch to catch the leader Gooville (Googoo Gaagaa) by a neck at the wire in the 2:02 mile for driver-owner Russell Foster and trainer-breeder Richard Hans.

In the $11,375 second division, Foster again took the pocket trip, this time with What Should I Goo (Googoo Gaagaa) until the three-quarters, where he pulled out and pulled away from the field, setting a stakes and track record for 2-year-old trotting fillies of 1:58.1, winning by nine lengths. Richard Hans is the trainer, owner and breeder. We Could Be Heros (Credit Winner) was up for place.

Reinsman John Wagner, behind Street Beats (American Ideal), was parked until the quarter pole, then took charge from there in the first $13,925 division for the pacing colts and geldings. Street Beats stopped the clock in 1:59.1 with Black Cat (Badlands Hanover) taking the second spot. Wagner is the trainer for Michael Torcello and Pam Wagner and breeder Winbak Farm.

The second $13,925 split for pacing colts and geldings saw Honky Tonk Flame (Always B Miki) fly to the front from post eight and score in wire-to-wire fashion, a neck in front of Bad And Boujee (Badlands Hanover). Jim Morand got the driving assignment from trainer Trevor Stafford for owners Lonnie Cohen and Brian Burton. The winning time was 1:57.
