Whiskey Blu earns life mark in Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Whiskey Blu followed live cover down the backside, then peeled off through the final turn and brushed home to score in a career-best 1:53.1 in Wednesday’s feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $15,400 conditioned trot.

Fast early fractions set up the successful first-over charge of Believer, who cleared the tiring leaders at the top of the lane. But Whiskey Blu and Dan Charlino outkicked him, downing him by a head, with Mind Yown Business third.

Ron Burke trains Whiskey Blu, a 4-year-old Southwind Frank-Kendall Blue gelding who boosted his lifetime bankroll to $228,950, for Burke Racing Stable, Kitefield Stable and Weaver Bruscemi.

Jeremy Indof piloted four winners on the 13-race card while Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and Burke each enjoyed a three-bagger.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday when the 13-race program features a pair of carryovers — $1,960.02 in the final-race Super Hi-5, $1,195.94 in the Jackpot Pick-5 (race four). First post is 12:45 p.m.
