TORONTO – One week after making a break during the second leg of the Glorys Comet Trotting Series, Wide Angle Hanover bounced back beautifully with a narrow victory in the C$89,500 final for older horses, Sunday afternoon at Woodbine.

Jody Jamieson drove the seven-year-old Muscles Yankee gelding to the head score over 10-1 longshot Adam T in 1:53.4 for owner-trainer Paula Wellwood. Texas Photo, the near 5-2 favorite, was third beaten a length.

Y Chance It took the early advantage, cutting splits of :27 and :57. He got three-quarters of a mile in 1:25.1.

‘Wide Angle’ sat the pocket trip behind the leader and was fourth into the stretch, but Jamieson negotiated past a tiring Y Chance It and managed to get up in the final jumps, edging a host of others at the wire.

Reve D Amerik and Self Righteous were fourth and fifth in the blanket finish. Y Chance It was seventh, beaten 4 1/4 lengths.

It was the second win in three starts this season for Wide Angle Hanover.

Wide Angle Hanover (and entrymate Southwind Rome) returned $9.20, $5.50, and $3.10 across the board and combined with Adam T ($9.40, $4.70) for a $67 exactor. Texas Photo paid $2.50 to show and wrapped up the $232.70 triactor.
