Will Bold Eagle be victorious Sunday?

French Triple Crown winner Bold Eagle has not won a race in seven months, but Sunday afternoon (March 11) he has a very big chance to visit the winner’s circle at Cagnes sur Mer in Southern France.

Bold Eagle, driven by Franck Nivard, is the heavy favorite in the Grand Criterium de Vitesse at Cagnes sur Mer Sunday afternoon. This race is the biggest mile race in France and carries a total purse of $250,000 and will have 13 trotters in the lineup.

Bold Eagle has drawn post position one.

This is the first time Bold Eagle races over the mile in France. He did it in the Elitlopp, where he won an elimination in an impressive 1.50f. The race and track record at Cagnes sur Mer is 1.51.4 held by Timoko, who won this race no less than four times.

However, this is not a record for number of wins in the race, as the legendary French trotting mare Une de Mai won the race five years in a row.
