William Nibert, 80, dies

Columbus, OH — William Larry “Bill” Nibert, 80, of Richwood, Ohio, died May 14, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Marysville to the late Austin and Ruth (Justice) Nibert. On Sept. 2, 1954, he married the former Johna Eaches in Richwood and she survives.

A veteran of the United States Navy, he belonged to the American Legion and Forty & Eight and in 2014 was privileged to take the Honor Flight.

He drove a bread truck for Tasty Bread for about 10 years before he bought Nelson Blue’s insurance agency in Richwood and started Nibert Insurance, which continues operations to this day. He served as a council member and president for the Village of Richwood for more than 30 years, and served as mayor for more than 25 years.

He was a member of Mt. Carmel #303 F&AM, Aladdin Shrine, the former Richwood Lions Club, Indian Lake Moose Lodge #1533, Elks, Indian Lake Eagles 3615, and had served as a director of the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Sherry (Kenny) Jones, Larry (Candy Finley), Gary (Angel), and Theresa (Charlie) Jordan; grandchildren, Trisha (James Rivers) Welch, Branden (Brittany), Levi, Ashley Jordan, Dylan (Kristen Knowles), Tiffany Jordan, Justice, Dominic, Jillian and Will; and great-grandchildren, Kody Welch, Blaine Rivers, Hannah, Mason, Riley, Kolton, Kaylee, Kallie, Jada Knowles and Blake. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughters, Harley and Courtney; and a brother, Tony.

Funeral services will be Thursday (May 19) at 11 a.m. at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood, with Pastor Joe Rhea officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Richwood Area Veterans and burial will take place at Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday (May 18) from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Richwood where a Masonic Service will be conducted by Mt. Carmel #303 F&AM at 7 p.m.
