William Peugh, 75, dies

Columbus, OH — William Reed Peugh, 75, of Groveport, Ohio, died after a battle with cancer August 16, 2010.

He was born March 12, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to Aredus and Thelma (Heffelfinger) Peugh. He was a Navy veteran and retired from DCSC.

Mr. Peugh was a member of the USTA and enjoyed his retirement as a Standardbred trainer. He always looked hard for the heart in every horse.

He is survived by his brothers, Chuck, Jerry (Carolyn) and Danny; sister, Barb; sister-in-law, Carolyn; children, Mike, Terry (Randy) Ingmire, Greg (Mary) and Diana (Timothy) Durant; and grandchildren, Corine, Deidra, Jennifer, Colin, Shelley, Cameron, Grant and Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim; and sister, Connie.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, August 19, at the Myers-Woodyard Funeral Home, 518 Main St., Groveport, from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:30 p.m. By his wishes he will be cremated and his ashes scattered in the woods where his race horse Miami Jewel, who also succumbed to cancer, was buried.
