Winning Key Farm pointed in an exciting new direction

Worthington, PA — Winning Key Farm is pleased to announce that their operation is pointed in an exciting new direction heading into the future.

Early in 2021, the harness world lost one of its most prominent supporters and enthusiasts when longtime owner and breeder Bob Key passed away at the age of 87. Following his passing, his wife, Patty Key, had many decisions to make regarding the prospects for the future of their operation. Having always shared his passion for raising horses, Mrs. Key has made the decision for Winning Key to move forward into the commercial side of the Standardbred business.

For the past several decades, Winning Key has bred and raised its stock to primarily race for the farm itself. While there has been a substantial number of successful horses throughout the years, the time has come to concentrate on the production of their top broodmares. Many of these broodmares boast some of the sport’s most sought after bloodlines. The large dispersal of mares has been underway for the last couple months, as the broodmare band will be reduced from over 100 to about 30 top quality mares.

Starting this year, Winning Key Farm will begin offering all of its yearlings for sale. Diamond Creek Farm has agreed to consign several of their best yearlings for the Lexington, Ohio Select, and Standardbred Horse sales. As well as the auctions, Winning Key Farm will also be offering 40 yearlings for private sale this season

On the racing side of things, the operation has also begun to disperse a large number of their 100-plus racehorses. Throughout 2021, Winning Key Farm will also be offering about 50 2-year-olds for sale, all of which are currently in training. Information on the current 2-year-olds will be available on their website.

For anyone with interest in the stock to be sold, the farm is asking buyers to be directed to their website at www.winningkeyfarm.com. They will be updating the site as the yearling sale season begins.
