Winning Mister romps in Open Trot at Dover

Dover, DE — Winning Mister made his first local start an impressive one, scoring a 1:54.3 victory in the $26,000 Open Trot on Wednesday (Feb. 2) at Dover Downs.

Matt Kakaley left fast with Winning Mister to get the lead and then never looked back in his second win in three 2011 starts. A Bob Key homebred 5-year-old son of Angus Hall-Winning Missbrenda, Winning Mister has now won four of his last five races and has earned $500,344 in his career. Cold Winner (Ron Pierce), last week’s event winner, finished second, holding off a fast finishing Photo Maxx.

Luvyabutleave got up in deep stretch in 1:57.2 for Tom Jackson in an $18,000 Winners Over Trot. It was the SJ’s Photo-Lady Ballerina mare’s second win in three starts for owners Arlene Cameron and Sarah Swart. Sea Raven (Ron Pierce) was runner-up. Road Rash (Tim Tetrick) was the show horse.

Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. No live racing this week on Friday and Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 6. Saturday racing begins at 5:30 p.m. Parking and admission are free. Reservations are suggested for the Winner’s Circle Restaurant. Call 302.674.4600.
