Winning streaks on the line in Green Acres Finals

Freehold, NJ — A trio of 2-year-old colts will put winning streaks on the line in $35,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes–Green Acres Finals this week at Freehold Raceway.

On Thursday, October 2, Yankee Fortysix, a gelded son of Artiscape-Kokopeli, enters the sixth race pacing feature with an unbeaten record of four wins in four starts. Trained by Robert Reeser, the pacer won three starts in Indianapolis before heading to Freehold where he captured a round three division of the Green Acres. He was scratched sick out of last week’s fourth leg. Yankee Fortysix is owned by his breeder, Bonnie Benson.

Two of the finalists in the Green Acres trot have four-race winning streaks — Swift Kid (Yankee Glide-Swift Kid Hanover) and Rin Tin Cin (Muscles Yankee-Cindy Winner). Only six will go postward in the stakes, carded as the first race on Friday, October 3.

Swift Kid, driven by Steve Smith and trained by Ray Remmen, has six wins, three seconds and three thirds in 16 starts, banking $38,600 for John Lichtenberger. The gelding’s streak began on August 19 at the Meadows with a career best 1:59.4 clocking and continued in a quartet of NJSS-Green Acres prelims.

Rin Tin Cin, from the barn of Trond Smedshammer and piloted by Jeff Gregory, has five wins and one third in eight starts, earning $16,756 for Timo H. Yii Panula. The trotter’s four-race winning streak — five wins in his last six starts — includes a pair of NJSS-Green Acres races. He took his mark of 1:58.4 in the first round on August 28.
