Wissner wins Freehold handicapping contest

Freehold, NJ — Reid Wissner, of Manalapan, New Jersey, defeated 43 fellow handicappers and won the Freehold Raceway Harness Racing Handicapping Contest, which was held on Monday, January 15.

Wissner amassed a bankroll of $393 to take the top prize of $ 2,200.

Finishing second was John Golden of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, with a bankroll of $355. That was good enough for second place prize money of $1,100.

Finishing third was Nicholas Fazzolari of Colts Neck, New Jersey. He took the third place prize of $528 with a bankroll of $308. Sal Bottone of Westport, Connecticut, finished fourth ($288 bankroll, $352 prize), while there was a tie for fifth between Robert LaConte of West Patterson, New Jersey and Raymond Burnett of Monmouth Junction, New Jersey ($263 bankroll, $110 prize each).

In addition to their winnings, Wissner and Golden gained entry into the 2007 National Harness Handicapping Championship at the Meadowlands in April.
