Wolff named Hoosier Park track superintendent

Anderson, IN — Hoosier Park Racing & Casino is pleased to announce that veteran trackman Gary Wolff has recently been named track superintendent and will return to Hoosier Park for the 2016 live harness racing season.

Gary Wolff has been named the track superintendent at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino for the 2016 live racing season.

Wolff previously held the position of track superintendent at Hoosier Park in 2008 before most recently serving as track superintendent at The Meadowlands in New Jersey.

Wolff brings more than 40 years of experience in the horse racing industry and nearly 25 as a track superintendent to his position at Hoosier Park. Acting as superintendent, Wolff will be in charge of the condition of the racing surface as well as overseeing the entire track operations and staff.

Wolff began his career at Buffalo Raceway, where he worked from 1974 until 1992, concluding that time as track superintendent. He previously served as track superintendent at Freehold Raceway (1999-2008) and Garden State Park (1992-1999) along with working as a consultant for the 2008 Breeders’ Cup and Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park.

“Hoosier Park could not be more pleased with the announcement of Gary Wolff as our new track superintendent,” Hoosier Park’s Vice President and General Manager of Racing, Rick Moore noted. “Gary is widely respected throughout the industry and shares Hoosier Park’s commitment to providing the safest racing surface possible for our horsemen and equine athletes.”

“As we begin preparations to host the 2017 Breeders Crown at Hoosier Park, the addition of Gary to our team could not be better timed,” Moore continued. “Gary is as good as it gets in this business.”

Wolff and his crew will be busy preparing the racing surface for Hoosier Park’s 23rd season of live harness racing that commences on April 1. Live racing at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino will follow a Friday, Saturday schedule the opening week, a Thursday, Friday, Saturday schedule the second week and then resume a Tuesday through Saturday schedule throughout the remainder of the meet. With a new, daily post time of 5:45 p.m. each night, the live racing season will be conducted through Nov. 12.
