Woodside Charm drew off easily for a 1:54.3 New York Sire Stakes win on Thursday at Vernon Downs.

In the second division, Quincy Blue Chip (Jim Morrill Jr.) charged out to the early lead, but Woodside Charm and owner-trainer-driver Verlin Yoder took control as they headed for the backstretch and led the field to a :57.3 half and three-quarters in 1:26.3. She found another gear at the top of the stretch, winning going away in a lifetime-best time of 1:54.3. Stella Jane (Jason Bartlett) came up to finish second; Quincy Blue Chip held on for third.

Woodside Charm, a daughter of Chapter Seven and Fireworks Hanover, has yet to be tested in her young career, winning all three of her starts to date with ease.

In the first division, Hanna Dreamgirl went right to the front and never looked back. Jim Morrill Jr. sent the Chapter Seven-Shipps Empress filly right to the front, hitting the first quarter in :27.4. Sensibility (Charlie Norris) followed in the pocket with Safe Word (Jeff Gregory) third. Hanna Dreamgirl continued to control the race through splits of :59 and 1:29.2.

Sensibility popped the pocket and made her move, but had to settle for second best as Hanna Dreamgirl cruised to the win in 1:57.1. Hot Chapter (Marcus Miller) was third.

Hanna Dreamgirl now has two wins, a second and five thirds in eight career starts for owner Ken Jacobs and trainer Linda Toscano.

Toscano had a training double on the night. Her other win came with Global Pageant and driver Scott Zeron.

Live racing returns to Vernon Downs on Friday (Aug. 24), with an 11-race card starting at 6:10 p.m.
