Southwind Wrangler made his first visit to the winner’s circle with a 1:57.3 score for Jack Moiseyev.

In the opening C$20,000 division, Southwind Wrangler was sent straight to command from post seven by driver Jack Moiseyev and never looked back en route to a 1:57.3 tally.

The son of Windsong’s Legacy-Win B used a :28.1 final quarter to hold off a late challenge from Adrion Dream with Go Go Red Marty also closing sharply to pick up the show spot.

It was the first win in two career starts for the Torgeir Hagmann trainee who is owned by Kjell Magne Anderson and Troy Mollohan. The colt is eligible to the lucrative William Wellwood Memorial Stake at Mohawk with eliminations slated for September 13.

Stormont Garcon also took command in the early stages of the second division and then cruised to a 1:57.3 victory for driver Rick Zeron. The son of Stormont Bronze-Samata showed some greenness in the late stages and wandered across the racetrack but managed to hold safely over Newport Volo and Bay Lightning.

John MacMillan does the training of Stormont Garcon for owner Eric Baker. The winner’s share of the purse bumped his seasonal earnings to just over C$45,000.

The C$50,000 (est.) Bridger Series Final will go postward next Thursday night (August 20) from Mohawk.
