Manalapan, NJ — The 46th annual SBOANJ Horse Show, a showcase for Standardbred yearlings as well as mares and foals, is one of the featured events of the Festival of Horses on August 10 at the New Jersey Horse Park in Upper Freehold Township, N.J.

The program begins at 10:00 a.m. and runs through 2:00 p.m.

New Jersey-sired yearling colts, yearling fillies, and mares and foals will be judged, vying for $7,500 in prize money.

Yearlings are judged on condition, control, handling, movement and conformation. Mares and foals are judged on appearance only.

Judging will be handled by Dr. Scott Palmer of the New Jersey Equine Clinic in Clarksburg and prominent Standardbred trainer Chris Ryder.

Drawings will be conducted for a breeding to the trotting stallion Revenue, donated by Perretti Farms, and horse feed, supplied by local companies.

Other events during the Festival include the Woodedge at the Park Hunter/Jumper Horse Show, the Millstone Township Drill Team, equine demonstrations and educational programs.

There will be a petting farm, face painting, pony rides and other family activities.

The Festival is sponsored by the NJ Department of Agriculture’s NJ Equine Advisory Board and the SBOANJ.
