Yonkers Pick-6 still elusive; Madhatter Bluechip wins Open Handicap Trot

Yonkers, NY – There were no winning tickets in the Pick-6 again on Saturday night (Sept.25) at Yonkers Raceway, and as a result, there will be a carryover of $8,853.52 on Monday night’s (Sept. 27) program.

Saturday night’s on-track feature, the $48,000 Open Handicap Trot, was won by Madhatter Bluechip (Greg Merton) in 1:55.4. Madhatter Bluechip went to the lead from post one, posted fractions of :28.3, :59, and 1:27.1, and came home in :28.3 to defeat pocket-sitter Magic Vacation (Dan Dube) by a length and a half. Rock Of Cashel (Austin Siegelman) was third.

Tom Milici owns and trains Madhatter Blue Chip, a 9-year-old Muscle Hill gelding. This was his 36th career victory, and he has now earned $391,402. He paid $11.40 to win after being sent off at 9-2.

In other news, while the Pick-6 was not hit, the 50-cent Pick 5 was for a return of $8,022.75.

Yonkers Raceway’s card on Monday night (Sept. 27) gets underway at 7:15 p.m. with the Pick-6 beginning in the third of the 12 races.
