Yonkers prepping for second Summer Festival

Yonkers, NY — Preparations are well underway for Yonkers Raceway’s second annual Summer Festival, scheduled for Saturday night, June 18.

The free, family-themed event, held on the track apron from 5-9 p.m., includes rides, games with prizes, a water bottle giveaway (while supplies last), music (a Beach Boys tribute band) and the requisite amount of fun food, from popcorn to cotton candy to snow cones to candy apples.

There is also a meet-and-greet with Yonkers’ leading drivers (including autographed photos) prior to the Saturday racing program (usual 7:10 p.m. first post). Also that night, amateur drivers compete in non-wagering events in the Billings Series, beginning at 6 p.m.

“We received a tremendous response after our first Summer Festival, and we’re very pleased to offer it again,” general manager Bob Galterio said. “There’s something for everyone to enjoy, and it gives us a chance for us to show off our excellent racing product to a whole new audience.”
