Zizi’s Comet looks to stay on the winning track at Dover.

Claimed for $25,000 late last meet by Frank Ambrose and Tony Poliseno, Zizi’s Comet has been perfect since starting his streak at Rosecroft in October and then has won five straight since the Dover meet began. Steve Warrington has been the regular driver of the seven-year-old Ohio-bred gelding.

Crystal Ball Stables’ late closing Notorious Buck, driven by Travis Bowman, won last week’s event with a strong finishing 1:57 win by a head. Rich Crammer and Bobby Reeser’s So Striking was second for Tim Curtin with Put Them On Hold, owned by Green Racing and driver Jim Morand, in the photo third, only a neck back. Arden Homestead Stable and driver Jacquie Ingrassia’s classy Goalfish led during the middle stages of the mile and held on for fourth.

Murray and Peter Goldberg’s veteran Always On Guard won last week’s Winners Over Trot in wire-to-wire fashion for Jim Marshall III with a 1:563 effort.

The other starters are Fifty Two Finn, who won eight times in 2003, banking $123,177 for owners Joel Kravet and Adele Prince, and leaves from the rail with Kevin Sizer, and the always dangerous Frisky Fella, owned, trained and driven by Sam Beegle.

Two of the starters in the $15,500 Winner’s Over Trot tasted victory last time out. My Royal Aim took no prisoners for owner, trainer, and driver Toby Lynch, Jr. in 1:571 in a never-looked-back victory and similarly the Rusty Thomas leased Ohtobe BG led throughout for a 1:58 triumph.

Three other participants were second in their previous outings, Mark Lancaster and Massina Stable’s Play Chip (Mark Gingrich), Ethen Seelster (Ricky Still), owned by Wayne Pryor and Doc & Me Inc., and Pretty Goal Vita (Jim King, Jr.), owned by Helen Looney and JoAnn King.

Kevin Sizer and Brooks Stables’ Rose Run Casanova (Hal Belote) tries to get back in the win column after his three race win streak ended last week with an untimely break heading for the lead. Kimberly Book’s Meadowagogo (Eddie Davis), Ken Wood and Howie Perlmutter’s R Little Am Lo (Eddie Davis, Jr.) and Altman, Hesslein, Adams and Ginger Tree Farm’s Astro Hall (Eddie Davis) are the other contestants.

A $17,900 Delaware claimer is the top pacing purse event of the day. Pat and Richard Arndt’s Mantique (George Dennis) seeks his third in a row while Greg Simendigner’s Soul Of The Dragon (Steve Warrington) won his last.

Monday through Thursday post time at Dover is 4:30 p.m. No racing on Fridays with Saturday and Sunday starting times at 5:30 p.m. There is no charge for parking or admission. Reservations are suggested for the Winner’s Circle Restaurant. Call (302) 674-4600.
