Z’s Dream, Syndegaard win DSBF splits

Harrington, DE — Leonard Hubbard’s Z’s Dream ($7.80, Art Stafford Jr.) and Jo Ann Looney-King’s Syndegaard ($7.80, Victor Kirby) each won their respective $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund first leg elimination for 2-year-old male pacers Monday (Sept. 21) at Harrington Raceway.

Z’s Dream, a son of Dream Away, assumed command from early leader Marvelous Winner near the three-quarters and never looked back in a decisive 1-3/4 length win over Subban and Marvelous Winner in 1:58.4. Favorite Squeak On By miscued behind the gate before the start and finished last. Z’s Dream, trained by Andrew Stafford, earned his first career win.

Syndegaard was a front end winner in the second split over Henrico and Justflirtingwithu in 1:59. Trained by Jim King Jr., the Roddy’s Bags Again gelding also picked up his first career win.

The top point earners from the two rounds of eliminations will compete in $100,000 final events on Oct. 7.

Pacing fillies will get underway in three divisions on the Tuesday (Sept. 21) program.

Driver Pat Berry won three races in succession, piloting Stark Hanover ($17), Power Of Tell ($6.40) and Jack’s Legend N ($2.80) to victory.

Victor Kirby, Montrell Teague, and Tony Morgan each had driving doubles.
