Zuccarello, Beltrami victorious in NAADA trots

Yonkers, NY — Matt Zuccarello and Tony Beltrami walked away victorious from their respective $10,000 North American Amateur Drivers Association trotting events on Thursday (Nov. 4) at Yonkers Raceway.

In his event, Zuccarello sent Stealing to the lead from the post three, and they led their competition by the first stanza in :29.2. Stealing rebuffed an early challenge from Judge Ken (Scott Keppler), but the two trotters raced side-by-side past the half in 1:01.3. Judge Ken began to fade turning for home, but Raceace (Alan Schwartz) rallied to put late pressure on the leader. Nonetheless, Stealing hung tough and won by a head in 2:01.2. Gemini Eddie (Joe Faraldo) rallied late for third.

Dennis Laterza trains Stealing for Winners Circle Racing, John Campagnuolo and Latz A Luck Stable.

Like Zuccarello, Beltrami also rode the front end to victory. After starting from post five, Dark Pool was all alone when he trotted by the first quarter in :29. Still two lengths in front by the half in 1:00.3, Dark Pool seemed unbeatable, and he was as he led Zuccarello and All Night Credit all the way home for a two-length triumph in 1:59.1 Presidente Zette finished third for Faraldo.

Dark Pool is owned by Barry Franklin and trained by Paul Fusco.
