East Rutherford, NJ — The fourth annual Perretti Matchmaker Stakes will bring together a classy field of top older trotting mares competing for a large purse check and breeding to one of the farm’s elite stallions on Saturday night (July 12) at the Meadowlands.
Buck I St Pat, the leading money winner among older trotters this season, leads the field of 12 for the $100,000 Perretti Matchmaker Stakes. Carded as race nine, the Perretti Matchmaker shares the stage with the eliminations for the $1.1 million Meadowlands Pace and the $600,000 William R. Haughton Memorial.
Buck I St Pat, trained by Mickey Burke, has won nine of 13 starts and $359,224 in 2008. Her victories include the $250,000 Maxie Lee at Harrah’s Chester and the $85,000 Classic Series at Dover Downs. Among the talented foes she will face is Falls For You, winner of the $357,613 Armbro Flight on June 28 at Mohawk.
The winner of the race will receive a breeding to either Muscles Yankee or Revenue S, two of Perretti’s premier trotting stallions that stand at their farm in Cream Ridge, New Jersey.
Muscles Yankee, the 1998 Hambletonian winner, was the leading money-winning trotting sire in 2003, 2004 and 2005. He stands for a stud fee of $20,000.
Revenue, who stands for a fee of $5,000, was a champion on both sides of the Atlantic before he retired to Perretti Farms. He won some of the most prestigious trotting events in the world, including the Prix de France, World Cup Trot, Allerage Farms Trot, Nat Ray and Copenhagen Cup, among others.
