Columbus, OH — New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on Tuesday signed a law which would create a Casino Tourism District in Atlantic City. The law also contains language permitting the New Jersey Racing Commission to provide as much as $30 million in horse racing purse supplements during the next three years.
However, horse racing industry supporters concede that it is unclear whether the horsemen will ever see any of the money.
State Sen. Jennifer Beck, R-Monmouth, said in a story on www.northjersey.com that the bill would give Christie “discretion as to whether the money will be utilized, and we hope that it will be.”
