Fair Roundup: Quaker Stakes raced at Big Butler Fairgrounds

from Harness Publicists across North America

After Friday’s Sire Stake races were washed out by rain, better weather greeted horsemen at the Big Butler Fairgrounds for Quaker Stakes on Saturday. The events are for Pennsylvania-owned or –sired horses.

Charming Photo (S J’s Photo) captured the first race, a $2,589 2-year-old Quaker Trot, for trainer/driver Joe Offutt. Chris Offutt owns the filly, who earned her first career win by trotting in 2:20.2.

In the 2-year-old Quaker colt pace, High Wire Kat scored for catch-driver Chris Offutt in 2:06.1. The Allamerican Ingot gelding is owned and trained by Jason Shaw.

The filly division was won by Virginia and Kathy Schoeffel’s Rose Of Life (The Panderosa), driven by Terry Brown. It was Rose Of Life’s first career start, and she picked up the win in 2:10.

Mr Power scored in 2:08.1 in his division of the 3-year-old Quaker Trot.

Three divisions of the 3-year-old Quaker Trot were next on the card, with wins going to Naughty Pajamas (SJ’s Caviar), Mr Power (Power Hall) and RT Sun Poco (Yankee Paco).

Naughty Pajamas, owned, trained and reined by Joe Offutt, scored in 2:06.1. Mr Power, a five-time winner last season, won for the first time this year for owners Harold and Bryce Brocklehurst. Bryce drove the winner for Harold, his father, who trains. The winning time was 2:08.1. RT Sun Poco, a filly, was a 2:07.1 winner in just her second career start for the Brocious Racing Stable. Bobby Rougeaux trains and drove her to victory.

The first division of the 3-year-old Quaker Pace was won by Gladiare Grane and driver Jordon Miller in 2:04.1, the fastest mile of the day. Michael Grande owns the Sharky Spur colt, while JC Milller, Jr. trains. The second division was won by DVC Fine Tuned, a Quentin Hanover filly in rein to Charlie Flickinger. Ellen Warren owns and Joyce Lineweaver is the trainer. DVC Fine Tuned paced the mile in 2:06.3 to earn her first career victory in her 24th start.
