Washington County, PA — Arden Downs in Washington County, Pa., hosted 3-year-olds in stake action on Tuesday, just a few miles down the road from The Meadows.

Bell On Wheels scored in 2:00.2 for Roger Hammer.

Roger Hammer’s pair of filly pacers, Real Espresso and Bell On Wheels, continued to keep pace with each other, as each posted her ninth win of the year as Hammer captured both divisions of the PA Sire Stake. Real Espresso (Real Artist) covered the mile in 2:02.1, while Bell On Wheels (Western Hanover) was a winner in 2:00.2.

Two sophomore filly trotting divisions were next, with wins going to Blazing Caviar (SJ’s Caviar) and Bank Star (Banker Hall). Blazing Caviar, trained and driven by Steve Schoeffel, trotted the mile in 2:05.3, while Bank Star, out of the John McMullen Stable, scored in 2:06.3 for driver Wil Yoder.

Colt pacers were up next, and Lahaye (Real Artist), also out of the Hammer Stable, won his eighth race of the season by pacing in 1:58.2, pushing his seasonal earnings over the $50,000 mark. DVC Firm Believer (Quentin Hanover), with Timmy Offutt driving, won the second division in 2:04.2.

In the 3-year-old colt trot for state-breds, Dunn Stable’s Political Desire was a winner in the first division, trotting the mile in 2:03.4 for driver Brian Zendt. The McMullen Stable’s Columbia County captured the second division in 2:04.1 for Yoder.

A pair of Quaker Stake events were next, with Gladaire Grande winning the pacing division, while Novice Pilot downed a field of trotters. Gladiare Grande, trained by JC Miller Jr., and driven by his son, Jordon, paced in 2:01.4. Novice Pilot, driven by Steve Schoeffel for trainer Joyce McMillan, trotted in 2:07.4 in the meet’s final race.

The circuit now moves to the Dayton Fairgrounds in Armstrong County beginning Wednesday.
