Dover, DE — Jack Vernon ($9.60) rode the open stretch to a narrow victory in Tuesday’s (Dec. 8) featured $13,000 winners-over trot at Dover Downs.

Jack Vernon and Corey Callahan left alertly to secure the pocket behind pacesetter Northern Express (Russell Foster), who set early fractions of :28 and :57.3 before facing pressure from the first-up Whimzical Chapter (Tim Tetrick) to three-quarters in 1:25.4. In the stretch, Jack Vernon surged along the rail to defeat Northern Express by a nose in 1:54.1. Whimzical Chapter finished third.
