Pennsylvania racetracks given green light to reopen

Columbus, OH — Separate posts on social media Wednesday night (June 10) announced that the three Pennsylvania harness tracks — The Meadows, Harrah’s Philadelphia and The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono — were informed with an email from the state’s Secretary of Health Rachel Levine that they have been cleared to resume racing.

Levine emphasized that the plan for the safety procedures for dealing with the COVID-19 virus from each track was approved and that it must be “implemented and maintained.”

The announcement regarding The Meadows was on State Representative Tim O’Neal’s Facebook page and a similar post about Harrah’s Philadelphia and Pocono appeared on the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association Facebook page shortly after.

Each track will announce their own plan for reopening.
