Post time changes at Darke County (OH) Fair

Greenville, OH — The Darke County Fair begins its four-day meet this Friday (Aug. 16) with 17 races that include 15 Ohio Colt Racing Association events, the Signature Series Terry Thomas Memorial Trot and one overnight event.

Horsemen are reminded that first race post time has been changed from 6:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to accommodate the 17-race card on Friday.

On Saturday, The Great Darke County Fair will feature a doubleheader with 10 races on tap for the morning card beginning at 11:30 a.m. and 16 races programmed for the evening card which is now set to start at 5:30 p.m.

Also, horsemen should note that they can only enter and leave through Gate 5 (located on the west side of the fairgrounds). Parking for horsemen will be immediately outside of that gate this year. You can enter the gate, unload, etc., but you will be required to move your trailer back out to the designated parking area. At the end of the session you again will be able to bring your trailer back in, but you must exit only through Gate 5 for safety reasons. There will be no other way out. There will be a golf cart attendant to help direct you as needed and will be available for you to catch a ride. Make sure you get a stamp on your hand, as well, to be able to go in and out of the gate.

Racing will be conducted as follows:

Friday (Aug. 16)-post time 5:30 p.m. (changed from 6:30 p.m.)
Saturday (Aug. 17)–post times 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. (changed from 6:30 p.m.)
Wednesday (Aug. 21)–post time 7:30 p.m.
Thursday (Aug. 22)–post time 5:30 p.m.

On Aug. 22, the race card will feature the 2- and 3-year-old Parshall Futurity, the Annie Oakley Shoot Out featuring the Spring Haven Farm Ladies Driving Series, the Arnie Almahurst Open Trot and the Gene Riegle Memorial Open Pace.
