Columbus, OH — John Thomas Green, 89, died Oct. 29, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Green as a Van Buren County native born on July 18, 1935, to the late Charlie Lee and Lillie Martin Green.
He was well known for harness racing while living in Ohio and for his garden vegetables enjoyed by many people in Spencer.
He attended Mooneyham Freewill Baptist Church.
Mr. Green is survived by his wife, Robin Eidens; daughters, Cyndi (Jeff) Oliver, Diane (Rick) Wendt, Julie Allen, and Amber; brother, David (Diane); sister, Margaret “Brownie” (Russell) Norton; grandchildren, Ashli Harrison. Anna Wendt, Peliah Wendt, John Ryan, Emily Allen, Jenna Allen, and Jack Pauken; and several nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jack Timothy; brothers, C. L., Pete, J. L. “Jaybird,” Leon and Lonnie; sisters, Leotra (Than) Cantrell, Mary Ruth “Wink” Moore, Peggy (Wilson) Turner, and Geneva.
Funeral services will be held Monday (Nov. 4) at 2 p.m. in the Layne Chapel with Bro. Wayne Sullivan officiating. Visitation times are Sunday (Nov. 3) from 12-7 p.m. and Monday (Nov. 4) from 10 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m.
Per his wishes, Mr. Green will be cremated after the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions towards the cost of the funeral.
