District 1 of the U.S. Trotting Association Board of Directors announced Friday (May 29) that Jason Roth has been selected to replace Stacy Cahill as a director for the organization. His term will begin immediately and will run through 2022.

The Meadowlands to resume live racing on June 5
The Meadowlands is pleased to announce that Governor Murphy has granted harness racing the opportunity to resume in the state of New Jersey. Our thanks go out to the Governor for allowing all of us to get back to business. Live racing will return to The Meadowlands next weekend, Friday (June 5) and Saturday (June 6) at 7:15 p.m. with no live attendance.
Sun Stakes 2020 cancelled
While it is the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen’s Association and Downs Racing’s sincerest hope that the 2020 racing season in Pennsylvania will be forthcoming, the uncertainty of the season’s calendar makes already scheduled events impossible to predict. Therefore, it is with heavy hearts that the PHHA and Downs Racing is announcing the cancellation of Sun Stakes 2020.
Entries due Monday for Mohawk Park qualifiers
Woodbine Mohawk Park’s Race Office would like to remind all horsepeople that the entry box for qualifiers on Thursday (June 4) and Friday (June 5) will close on Monday (June 1) at 10:30 a.m.

Scarborough Downs to begin 2020 racing season on June 3
The state of Maine continues through a phased re-opening from COVID-19 shutdown and as part of that reopening, the office of Governor Janet T. Mills has granted approval for Scarborough Downs to launch its delayed 2020 harness racing meet. The Downs will kick off its 70th season on Wednesday (June 3) on a spectator-less basis.
Matching Funds Grant Program awardees announced
The USTA Matching Funds Grant Program, now in its 14th year, is happy to announce the 12 fairs that have been awarded money for the marketing and promotion of their county fair harness racing program.
Revised racing program for Paulding (Ohio) County Fair
Even though the Paulding County Fair in Paulding, Ohio, has been canceled for 2020, the fair still plans to sponsor harness racing with a revised program.
Springfield Preview set for June 2
Races will be held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on Tuesday (June 2) at Noon. Conditions for the races are for Illinois bred 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds and up. Total purse payout for the day will be $50,000.
