A storybook season for Bell Boots
Everybody enjoys a “feel good” story and the Illinois bred filly trotter Bell Boots certainly provided one in her 3-year-old season. The homebred filly began her 2023 campaign as an unheralded and unknown trotter from the barn of Matt Avenatti and by the end of the year, was honored as the best in her division at the recent Illinois horsemen’s banquet.

Game of Claims Series again fill Pocono card
Drivers Anthony Napolitano and Matt Kakaley, the two-time defending dashwinning champion at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania, continued to show a winning touch in the second preliminary round of Monday (March 11) afternoon’s all-Game Of Claims card. Both drivers got home first four times on the pacing-only program, two times each in both the seven $10,000 contests with a $17,500 base tag and the $7,500 events for horses valued today at $9,000, also with seven sections.

First mare bred to Jujubee now in foal
Cathy Webb of Ivy Lane Farm reports that multiple stakes winner Consolidator 2,1:58f; 3,1:54.4s; 4,1:53.2f ($570,387) was the first mare bred to Jujubee and is now in foal to the Trotter of the Year in his first season at stud in Indiana.
