Running Aces opened its 2025 live racing season on Sunday night (May 18) to a nice on-track crowd who were treated to some very competitive racing over the Minnesota five-eighths-mile oval.

Three-year-old trotting males continued on the path towards New Jersey on the first Saturday in August as they contested three $30,000 divisions of a Pennsylvania All-Stars event on Sunday (May 18) evening at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.

All but assured the driving premiership at Rosecroft Raceway’s winter-spring meet heading into Sunday’s (May 18) closing-day program, Jonathan Roberts finished with a flourish, piloting seven winners on the 13-race card, including Sheer Terror in the featured $12,000 Open Handicap Pace.

Chuck Perry’s The Lizard won his third straight race at the Shenandoah Downs spring meet Saturday (May 17) when the 3-year-old Lazarus gelding crossed the wire two lengths the best in a $6,000 conditioned pace. Perry’s pacer is a perfect 4-for-4 now this year.

The Sweet Lou gelding Lunar, enjoying a rich vein of form since joining up with trainer Hunter Oakes and owner Carmen Iannacone via claim at the end of March, paced the fastest mile of the season at Harrah’s Philadelphia, 1:48.4, in winning the $13,000 featured fast-class event at the riverside oval.

Braxten Boyd scored a driving grand slam including a win with BB Lucky Boy in  the featured $11,000 pace at Tioga Downs on Sunday (May 18).

The draw for the upcoming Elitlopp next Sunday (May 25) was performed on national TV Sunday afternoon – and top Canadian trotter Logan Park will be the only horse this year representing North America.

Beyond The Past was much the best in the $5,500 featured pace at Cumberland Raceway on Saturday (May 17), showing his heels to the field in an effortless score.
