Hillexotic, Pat Matters impress at Philadelphia

Chester, PA — Hillexotic and Pat Matters proved impressive winners in the two top trotting events conducted on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 15) at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

In the $12,800 feature for developing youngsters, Hillexotic dominated despite coming in off a 39-day layoff. The sophomore Muscle Hill gelding moved uncovered at the half and trotted his last half in :56.2 to win by 4-3/4 lengths in 1:55. Hillexotic, who did not race at 2, now has four wins in his last six outings and has amassed a $161,540 bankroll for trainer-driver Trond Smedshammer and the Purple Haze Stables LLC.

In a $11,600 contest for fast-class trotters, the Explosive Matter mare Pat Matters also roared uncovered to take the lead on the backstretch and won by 10-1/2 lengths in 1:52.3. Dexter Dunn drove for trainer Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman and the Patricia Stable.

Dexter Dunn and Tim Tetrick both tripled on the Thursday card.
