Batavia, NY — Patricia Ellen (James) Waddell-Snodgrass, 77, a resident of Philippi, W.Va., died Dec. 30, 2020, in the United Hospital Center.
She was born Feb. 13, 1943, in Toronto, Ontario, a daughter of the late Lewis and Bernice (Hodgins) James. She was united in marriage on Aug. 22, 1985, to Dr. Ralph R. Snodgrass Jr. who preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 2012.
She had a love and passion for horses, was a member of the USTA and was pivotal in publicity for the Canadian Trotting Association. She trained a small stable of horses in western New York including Stonegate Payoff, Gail’s Rusty, V V Dexter and Patrick Will.
She was always highly regarded in the Standardbred community as well as the West Virginia Miniature Horse Club. She loved everyone she came into contact with.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen F. Waddell-Wellman; son, David Waddell; step-daughter, Wendi (Randall) Chapman; grandchildren, Eric Allan Wellman (companion Ashley Mullen), Patric Christopher Wellman, Lauren Yung and Daniel Yung; and great-grandchildren, Islas Yung, Adalynn Wellman and Levi Wellman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Standardbred Retirement Foundation.
In honor of her request, cremation will be honored and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
