Washington, PA — Mystical Peter sustained a long uncovered move that carried him to an 8-1 upset in Thursday’s (Sept. 30) feature at The Meadows, a $12,100 conditioned trot.
While the lead changed hands a number of times early on, Mystical Peter and Hunter Myers sat chilly in fourth. When Myers asked the 5-year-old Uncle Peter-Love Me Two Times gelding for trot midway up the backside, he wore down the leader, Donatover, and scored in 1:54.3. Keystone Chaos shot the Lightning Lane for second, a neck back, while Donatover saved show.
Todd Keith owns and trains Mystical Peter, who pushed his lifetime bankroll to $142,677.
Aaron Merriman and Dave Palone each piloted four winners on the 13-race card.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday (Oct. 1), when the 12-race program features a $10,861.04 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. The special fall-winter Friday post time is 4 p.m.
